About the Author

Meg Cabot was born in Bloomington, Indiana on February 1, 1967. She recieved a fine arts degree from Indiana University, Meg moved to New York City, intent upon pursuing a career in freelance illustration. Illustrating, however, soon got in the way of Meg's true love, writing, and so she abandoned show more it and got a job as the assistant manager of an undergraduate dormitory at New York University, and writing on the weekends. Meg wrote both The Princess Diaries and The Mediator: Shadowland (under the name Jenny Carroll), the first books in two series for young adults which happen to be about, among other things, teenage girls dealing with unsettling family issues. Overbite (Insatiable Book 2) by Meg Cabot

A great conclusion (and yes, I realize that Meg Cabot was originally supposed to have a third book) to this duology. I fully expected the reveal of who was creating the vampires but I did not guess the backstory. If Meg ever writes the third book, I will read it.

Looking forward to reading more of Meg's work in the future.

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

Enjoyed the movie, figured I'd read the book. This was a fun read. I think I'd have really loved it as a teen. Book's climax resolves in a much less cringey way than the movie (pre MeToo). Grandma in the book is WTH awful - her film version is much much much nicer.

Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot

A lot of chick lit I really love: not this. I found the writing poor, the characters and conversations irritating. I read about 100 humourless, dull pages before throwing it aside.

Overbite by Meg Cabot

At first I found the book a little confusing. I wasn’t sure what exactly was going on and didn’t have much of a backstory to go from. There was a bit of action in the beginning and it slowly picked up from there. The story only spanned a few days, and those were some long days. Meena is the main female character and she is part of a secret group that works for the Vatican to eradicate all evil creatures; mainly vampires. This is truly a conflict of interest for Meena seeing as she is in love with Lucien; the Prince of Darkness.
Meena can see/sense how people are going to die, so when she notices that her ex-boyfriend is no longer showing a long life she calls him to meet up. Little does Meena know, her ex has been turned into a vampire. Things escalate from there and Lucien shows up and pulls Meena’s ex off of her, then Meena stakes her ex and poof, no more vampire. Meena notices that Lucien seems weaker than he should for a vampire and she tries to help him, but he is adamant that nothing is wrong. Meena tries to tell him about a dream she has been having that has convinced her that Lucien can choose between being evil and being good; though he seems to not want to believe her.

Things spin out of control very fast in the book and while Meena seems to find herself in a love triangle, she isn’t sure that she actually loves anyone but Lucien. The writing was excellent and I had no problems finding myself immersed in the story. I just wish that there had been a little more background story in the beginning.
